UNACCOMPANIED MINORS (UM)

“Unaccompanied minors” refers to children between 5 and 11 years of age, who travel under the custody of the carrier.

Many passengers are reluctant about the idea of ​​a minor traveling alone: ​​it is not an easy decision for parents or legal guardians, but sometimes it is not possible to accompany the minor during the trip.

At Albastar, we do everything possible to welcome and care for the minor, to make them feel calm and safe, like family, during the flight. Once on the ground, we will accompany the minor directly to the family members who are waiting for you at the airport.

Note: Children under 5 years of age cannot travel unaccompanied.

Minors between 12 and 16 years of age are considered “young passengers” and do not need the custody of the carrier to travel alone, unless expressly requested by parents or legal guardians.

 Note: For departures from Italian airports, the assistance service for unaccompanied minors is required for passengers between 5 and 14 years old.

Minors must carry their own valid identification document or passport. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for complying with the necessary additional documentation requirements requested by the countries of origin and destination.

To obtain information and/or book this service, the passenger must go to their travel agency or tour operator.

They will communicate to Albastar the complete details of the person who will deliver the minor at the departure airport and the person who will pick him up at the destination airport. Said person must be able to be legally accredited.

The travel agency or tour operator also provides parents or legal guardians with all instructions on the procedure for unaccompanied minors and on paying the cost of assistance.

The unaccompanied minor and his or her parents or legal guardians must present themselves at the check-in counter at least 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure time.

Otherwise, the assistance service will not be guaranteed, nor will boarding or subsequent departure be guaranteed.

The minor’s companions must wait for confirmation of the flight departure to leave the facilities. In cases of non-compliance, there is no provision for refund of the ticket price or reimbursement of costs for the assistance service for unaccompanied minors.
